Door
etiquette is one of the more common problems we dog owners are
faced with. Enthusiastic dogs can knock children and the elderly
down, they can tear skin with long nails and leave dirty paw marks
all over your boss's freshly cleaned silk suit. If you've had
enough of jumping and you would like to know how to positively
change your dog's behavior without using force, then this workshop
is for you. |
| Polite
greeting and door etiquette training techniques will be taught at
a special session on Sunday March 5th at 10 AM at General Feed &
Seed. Teaching your dog a rock solid immediate sit is one of the
best ways to keep your dog from jumping. Using a clicker to mark
the moment the dog’s bottom hits the ground and then rewarding
with a tasty treat will help your dog learn that sit can be very
rewarding. The next step is teaching your dog to release from the
sit only when you use your release word. We will also be covering
alternate behaviors (like the sit), proactive measures, self restraint,
stress reduction and management techniques.
